What You Will Learn

  • Students will increase reading and listening comprehension, and vocabulary usage as they learn sentence patterns, advanced phrases, identify objects from descriptions, translate to and from French, create stories, and understand directions.
  • Conversation skills through expanded vocabulary such as family, clothing, food, geography, math, science, medical, music, employment-related, plants, animals, and directions. Vocabulary is also increased through poems, stories, and ditties.
  • Grammar includes prepositions; object and reflexive pronouns with finite and infinite verbs; past, present and future tense verbs; action verbs; imperfect tense; participle verb endings; indicative and subjunctive verb forms; gerunds; and dependant verb clauses.
  • This course also emphasizes intense listening comprehension challenges that inspire students to understand complex thoughts and subjects.
  • The increased language skills acquired in this course make higher level cultural and social content open to students who are exposed to some of the literary and social treasures of French-speaking countries.
